Options for Licensure

Students pursuing a Bachelor's Degree

For future teachers who are pursuing a Bachelor's degree, the COE's Bachelor of Education (BEd) program includes a strong liberal arts foundation, professional education courses, academic subject preparation, and student teaching. The Bachelor of Education program includes degrees in Elementary Education (including a dual preparation in Elementary and Special Education and Elementary and Early Childhood Education) and Secondary Education.
 
Classified status in the College of Education is necessary for registration in most required teacher education courses. Program sheets showing specific requirements are available in the COE's Office of Student Academic Services (OSAS).

Students with a Degree who Want to Become a Teacher

For students who already have a Bachelor's degree in a field other than education but would like to receive teacher licensure, the College of Education offers a Second Baccalaureate in Elementary Education, Post Baccalaureate Certificate in either Secondary Education (PBCSE) or Special Education (PBSPED), a Master's in Teaching (MEdT) and a Master of Education in Special Education (MEd SPED).
