Application materials are due by February 1 to the Graduate Admissions office and the Educational Foundations office. The Educational Foundations office handles all additional paperwork for prospective doctoral students, regardless of which program they apply to (excluding Educational Psychology). The foreign student application deadline is January 15. Students are accepted into the PhD in Education and the PhD in Educational Psychology programs only once a year for the fall semester.

Application items submitted to the Graduate Admissions Office include:

  • Graduate Division application form;
  • Official transcripts;
  • TOEFL score for applicants from foreign countries where English is not the dominant language; and
  • Financial status verification for foreign students.

Applications sent to the Educational Foundations office (PhD of Education Office)

  • Three letters of recommendation;
  • Evidence of competency in formal writing (i.e. masters thesis, research paper, etc...);
  • Scores on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE): Verbal, Quantitative, Analytical, and writing;
  • An Express Information Form; and
  • An oral interview may also be requested of the student by the specialization or the Chairman of the Ph.D. Program.
