Initial Teacher Licensure
Office of Student Academic Services (OSAS)
Opportunities abound for those who are considering a career in teaching. The Office of Student Academic Services (OSAS) provides admissions and advising services to prospective and current COE students interested in initial teacher licensure programs.
Here at OSAS, we strive to offer our students guidance and assistance in the process of applying, registering for courses, graduating, and obtaining teacher licensure. In our efforts to meet students' needs across our state and around the world, we offer remote options for advising that include advisors on the neighbor islands of Hawaii and online advising via Skype or Elluminate.
OSAS processes the applications for Initial Teacher Licensure programs. We are your resource for applications and admission requirements for each program. Visit How to Apply for detailed information on applying for our Bachelor of Education, Post Baccalaureate Certifications, and Master of Education in Teaching programs.
OSAS also processes applications for the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Health and Exercise Science from the department of Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Science. The BS degree does not lead to a license to teach.
When applying to the College of Education's Initial Teacher Licensure programs or the BS degree in Health and Exercise Science, one of the first things to do is set up an appointment with an advisor. Whether you have questions about our online options or how to register for classes here at the University, our advisors are available for face-to-face or online appointments. The Office of Student Academic Services (OSAS) believes that academic advising is a developmental teaching process to assist students to clarify their life/career goals and develop meaningful educational plans to help them attain these goals. OSAS supports the College of Education students in a continual process of clarification and evaluation.
