The Distance Course Design & Consulting Group (DCDC) exists to help projects and programs launch technology-rich offerings. The DCDC is a unit of the University of Hawaii’s College of Education, Office of Technology and Distance Programs. Services are available to University of Hawaii offices and groups external to the University. Depending on specific project and budget needs, the DCDC can show you, help you, or do it for you.

Systems approach

The DCDC uses a systems approach to design and development. In this approach, we see ourselves as part of a system that will produce an online course - a system that includes multiple experts in various aspects of the process. These experts include our in-house professional instructional designer and multimedia development specialists and outside subject matter experts, who are usually designated by the client. Materials developed by the DCDC are intended to be reusable across training cycles or semesters and by multiple instructors with little modification necessary.

The DCDC: Serving the University of Hawaii and beyond

The DCDC's services are available to clients within the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM) and without. The DCDC is housed in the College of Education, UHM, and many of our staff members are graduate students or alumni of UHM. Together, we have a wide range of skills and experience that we use in course development for a variety of clients. For more specific information about our staff members, see their staff bios on the DCDC website.
