Going Against the Grain
by Dr. Ann Bayer

Subtitled, “When Professionals in Hawai‘i Choose Public Schools Instead of Private Schools,” this book challenges the commonly held belief that public schools are failing while private schools are succeeding. With input from over fifty parents of both genders from different ethnic, professional, and economic backgrounds, the book provides parents, teachers, administrators, legislators, policy makers, and others insight into public education in Hawai‘i and its role in democracy.

"Introduction to Research in Education," Co-Authored by Christine Sorensen

In its 8th edition, this research methods textbook is designed to help students become more competent interpreters and designers of research by mastering the basic competencies necessary to understand and evaluate the research of others. In addition to end of chapter exercises to promote active involvement and critical thinking, and original illustrations to reinforce key concepts, this new edition offers a chapter on mixed methods research, expanded and integrated coverage of qualitative research methods, and updated information on action research.
