Join our UHM Bows Buddies team for the upcoming Best Buddies Friendship Walk, which will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Magic Island, Ala Moana Beach Park!

Our UHM Bows Buddies team has already reached our initial $500 fundraising goal, but were hoping to make an even bigger impact with your support! There are several ways you can get involved:

1. Join our team: Become a member of UHM Bows Buddies
2. Make a donation: Support our teams fundraising efforts (these funds help our chapter members with travel to the international Best Buddies Leadership Conference held at Indiana University in July)
3. Spread the word: Share this opportunity with your students and networks

Registration for the event is free, and anyone is welcome to participate. Those who contribute $50 or more will receive a complimentary 2025 Friendship Walk t-shirt. If you prefer, you can also direct your donation to support one of our college students or team members with IDD.

The event promises to be fun and inspiring, featuring free food, live entertainment, and speeches from Best Buddies ambassadors. Your participation would demonstrate the College of Educations commitment to fostering a positive environment where people with IDD are fully embraced, respected, and integrated into our community.

To register or donate, please visit our team page directly at https://bit.ly/4jkGCdz

Happy WIHI Wednesday 📍 & Baseball Season!! ⚾
SMAP Ambassador Jewel shares where youll find be around for the next few months!

I frequently go to the UH baseball games with my family and friends and am excited baseball season just started again. Since my courses are online, I especially enjoy attending athletic events and other activities on campus. My dad (pictured on the left) used to play baseball in college for Texas A&M, so he got me into watching baseball.

We love a good activity the whole family enjoys together! 💗

Happy Tuesday! Our Teacher Hero shoutouts of the day are the COEs very own Dr. Seungoh Paek and Dr. Christine Sorensen Irvine, from the Learning Design and Technology Department (LTEC)! 🍎🖥️ Jewel, a PhD student in LTEC, and our SMAP Ambassador shares why they are her teacher heroes:

The Learning Design and Technology program is full of amazing professors, but my COE Teacher Heroes are Dr. Seungoh Paek and Dr. Christine Sorensen Irvine, my dissertation committee co-chairs. I am so grateful to Dr. Chris for her knowledge and dedication, as she guided me through the initial stages of my dissertation. Her passing in 2023 deeply saddened me, and Dr. Paek stepped in to continue the work that Dr. Chris had started with me. Dr. Paek invested countless hours towards helping me navigate numerous challenges. She also devoted additional time to encourage and support me as I prepared to present at an international conference last year. Both of my co-chairs were incredibly compassionate and committed, and I am truly thankful for them.

We love to hear it, Jewel! 💚

Do you have a teacher hero at the COE? Wed love to know how theyve impacted you on your journey!
