UHM College of Education, Wist 234 or online at: 1776 University Ave Honolulu, HI 96822

For the third year in a row, the ETEC department will be hosting a virtual graduation for all the graduating Master's and PhD students in the virtual world, Second Life. Hosted by ETEC's Dr. Peter Leong, the virtual graduation provides a way for our neighbor island students to join their graduating ohana as well as friends and families from around the globe. The commencement speaker this year is COE Dean Donald Young who is adventuring into Second Life for the first time as part of the online ceremony. Each student comes as their avatar, and all are provided with traditional regalia. As they walk across the stage in the "Diamond Head Amphitheatre," each receives a virtual diploma and lei.

Guests are welcome, but are encouraged to become familiar with Second Life prior to the ceremony. Visitors may also join us live to see the events on the big screen in Wist 234.

You can get a sense of the event in this story from last year's event featured on Hawaii News Now.
