COEDSA was honored to have Dr. Ellen Hoffman provide a presentation that assisted students in identifying the purpose of their research. Her presentation, entitled “Is there a problem out there?” provided useful information and suggestions. Dr. Hoffman discussed many aspects of research such as the process, the question, the purpose, and the problem statement.

September First Phriday Workshop
On Friday, September 2, 2011 COEDSA sponsored an EndNote workshop UH Manoa’s Hamilton Library. COEDSA was honored to have Ms. Allie Jordan, MLISc, Department of Library and Information Science, provide a comprehensive explanation of EndNote, a software tool for publishing and managing bibliographies.

The hands-on presentation was held at a computer lab.
Discussions of the workshop and the PhD process were conducted at Chili's Kahala. The comfortable setting was conducive to personal interactions.
October First Phriday Workshop
On October 4th the College of Education Doctoral Students’ Association was pleased to have PhD candidate and COEDSA Council member Sharon Fukayama present “Steps Towards Completing Your PhD.” Sharon provided extensive information on her personal experiences in the degree process. PhD candidate and COEDSA council member Katherine Li and COEDSA Advisor Dr. Kavita Rao also shared valuable insight during Sharon’s presentation. Sharon’s presentation was well attended as was evident by a full classroom. Much appreciation is extended to Sharon on her helpful and relevant presentation, and best wishes on the remaining doctoral process steps!

November First Phriday Workshop
The COEDSA Council was pleased to have Dr. Freese provide this very relevant presentation. The workshop was attended by her former students, that contributed significant insight to the dialouge, current PhD students, and COEDSA Council members. Dr. Freese’s considerable efforts were well appreciated.
