Description:  This scholarship was established by Joseph Irah Bishop, a graduate of the University of Hawai`i, in memory of his wife, Sumie Kaneshiro Bishop, a graduate of the University of Hawai`i, College of Education and a University of Hawai`i Masters graduate in Speech.
Purpose:  The purpose of this fund is to assist students enrolled at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, College of Education.

College:  College of Education Standing:  any Min GPA:  2.0
Major:  any Residency:  HI Resident only Gender:  Any
Enrollment Status:  any
Additional requirements: The prospective recipient must have scholastic achievement, demonstrate a desire to improve oneself and the community, and a recommendation by College of Education faculty. Past recipients reapplying for the scholarship shall be given first consideration if they continue to meet criteria. Resident of State of Hawaii resident and U.S. Citizen. Major of Education and enrollment status of Full-time or Part-time. Preference to a qualified student of Okinawan or part-Okinawan ancestry.
