CDS writing tutoring program

The Center on Disability Studiesʻ Kākau Mea Nui 2.0 Writing Matters* project is thrilled to continue to offer a FREE online writing program for keiki in grades 6–8 called “Writing Crew with UH Mānoa.”

The goal of the four-week program is to improve the writing of students in the State of Hawai’i through:

  • exploring old and new storytelling traditions;
  • learning strategies to become more effective writers;
  • learning a writing process that can be used in all genres of writing; and
  • completing an original story
Delivery: Online via Zoom
Dates: Tuesdays & Wednesdays, 4:00pm–5:00pm
1st Session: January 20, 2026 – February 11, 2026
2nd Session: February 17, 2026 – March 11, 2026
Location:  Online via zoom (link will be sent once registered)
Eligible students: will be enrolled in grades 6-8.
Cost: FREE
