The Pacific Circle Consortium (PCC) is back in Honolulu, May 2026! In addition to your own research, evaluation, and programmatic work, please encourage our graduate students, K-12 teacher colleagues, and UH colleagues who do work with Pacific-Asia communities to submit their proposals.

The Executive Committee of the Pacific Circle Consortium is pleased to announce the 50th Annual Pacific Circle Consortium Conference, He Wa’a He Moku, He Moku He Wa’a, which will be held in Honolulu, Hawai‘i from 19 to 23 May, 2026. [Website link] The conference will be organized in an on-site mode and hosted by the College of Education of the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Following the success of previous PCC Conferences, the most recent of which was held in Apia, Samoa, the 50th Annual PCC invites presentation proposals that reflect upon the thematic metaphor – recognizing that educators serve as both stable foundations (moku or islands) and dynamic vehicles for growth (wa‘a or canoes), while students are both grounded in their cultural communities and launched toward new possibilities. There are five subthemes.

  • Aloha ʻĀina: Rooting Education in Love for the Land
  • Mauli: Nurturing the Life Force in Pacific Education
  • Kuleana: Embracing Our Generational Responsibility
  • Pilina: Strengthening the Connections That Sustain Us
  • Ea: Reclaiming Educational Self Determination

The conference will be hosted at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. UH Mānoa is about 8.3 miles or 13.4 km from Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL).

The Call for Proposals is open at this time. Proposals will be accepted until December 15, 2025, midnight your local time.

There are three types of sessions for which proposals will be considered:

  1. SCHOLARLY RESEARCH PRESENTATION (1-4 presenters suggested) (30 minutes): Presenters will share research findings related to education in the Asia-Pacific. Research works in progress are welcome also. Emphasis should be placed on findings that can lead towards practical change in K-20 educational settings, both formal and informal. Consider expanding and submitting to the PCC journal, Pacific-Asian Education, after the conference.
  2. HANDS-ON or PRACTITIONER SESSION (1-4 presenters suggested) (60 minutes): Presenters will engage attendees in curriculum and instructional activities to be implemented with students. These are generally workshops and demonstrations. Audience participation is encouraged. These sessions can also be designed to promote a variety of discussions (e.g., e.g., early childhood, primary, and secondary curricula, and programs; early childhood, primary, and secondary teacher education and support; education policies and practices; higher education leadership; student engagement; etc.).
  3. ROUNDTABLE SESSION (1-2 facilitators) (45 minutes): Facilitators will lead a small group in conversations around a particular topic. All participants in a round table will have the opportunity to offer their ideas and opinions. Participants will be asked to read or watch a piece in advance to be ready for discussion.

Proposals and presentations are expected to be in English. There may be some presentations in Hawaiian, which may be offered again as an English session as time allows.
