Nā Hokua 23-24 Annual Report

Nā Hokua empowers Native Hawaiian learners to create pathways for academic, career, and community success through opportunities in postsecondary education. They support Native Hawaiian adults to access opportunities and shape their own narratives through education and employment across the lifespan through promoting inclusivity, embracing indigenous practices, and fostering a strong sense of community.

Ke Kahua Pilina Summer Program
Ke Kahua Pilina is Nā Hokua’s summer program welcoming new and returning students to the support we provide throughout the year based on our Nā ʻIke ʻEhā framework, which includes pilina, pikoʻu, pono, and kuleana.

The Ke Kahua Pilina Summer Program got to visit the Hawaiian and Pacific Collections, where they checked out some of the rare items they have accessible to students and got to tour the extensive collection.

The program got to hear from some of experts, They taught the students how to use the equipment and showed them how some of it works.

Native Hawaiian STEM Scholarship
Nā Hokua offered a STEM Scholarship for the 23-24 academic year which covers cost of 12 credits for the fiscal year.
Requirements to apply:
- Have Native Hawaiian ancestry
- Must be attending classes at any UH Community College or Education Center
- Major in a STEM field of study
- Enrolled at least part-time (6-credits)
- Preference given to those who completed 12-36 credits
- Preference given to those pursuing a professional certificate or associates degree
- Preference given to those who attended a Workshop and completed a reflection
