Dr. Meghan Miller

CDS Director

As we begin a new year, I’d like to take a moment to introduce myself as the new permanent Director of the CDS, beginning January 2, 2026. First, though, I want to thank Dr. Kiriko Takahashi for her incredible leadership of the CDS over the past years, and for her generosity of spirit as I transition into this new role.

I’m arriving from California where I spent the past 12 years at the UC Davis MIND Institute. There, I directed a clinical research program focused on detecting the earliest markers of autism and ADHD. The driving goal of this work centered on improving early identification and supports for young children and their families.

As a researcher, licensed clinical psychologist, family member of someone with autism, and teacher and mentor, I come to CDS motivated to support innovation, growth, and equity both within the CDS and in the broader developmental disabilities field. My hope is that this will allow us to expand in new directions, grow deeper connections, and develop the workforce here in Hawai‘i to better serve individuals with developmental disabilities and their families..

As we all know, we’re in a challenging time, especially in terms of efforts to enhance equity in our communities. Despite these challenges, I’m energized by the sense of hope, community, and persistence I feel already at the CDS and in the interactions I’ve had with community partners in these first weeks on the job, and how this will shape the way we all move forward together. I’m excited about what lies ahead in 2026 and deeply grateful and honored to be working alongside this community.
