Research Overview
My work is concerned with how education, teaching, and learning can enable individuals to locate themselves within history and the constellations of power, culture, technology, and ideology that are shaping collective experiences of space and time, relative conditions of vulnerability and precarity, as well as the ability or inability to engage meaningfully in collective life. Thus, I am interested in education and pedagogy not simply as formal institutional processes, but unresolved questions of how human beings, within complex histories and social orders, learn to relate to themselves, others, and the world. This involves analyzing capital, labor, complex cultural exchanges, nationalism and imperialism, identity and difference, and the mediating role of media technologies (such as AI) in the constitution of thought, subjectivity, social relations, and political identifications.
