A group of 6 people sitting at a table, in a discussion

Event Details:

Having a doctoral degree opens many doors, with career options as college/university faculty, researchers, and/or educational leaders. As you work on your doctoral degree, you can build various skills related to your own professional and personal goals. These include hard and soft skills that go beyond core program experiences. It is helpful to be self-directed and intentional in identifying and developing skills most relevant for your pathway.

The Individualized Development Plan (IDP) process is useful for doctoral students and their advisors by providing:

  1. tools that help students identify professional and personal goals as an emerging scholars,
  2. processes for doctoral students to articulate short- and long- term goals for their scholarly development; these processes are dynamic and useful throughout the doctoral program
  3. means for doctoral students and their advisors to communicate, interact, and have sustained and meaningful mentoring conversations

Doctoral students at all phase of the program are welcome,  including:

  • New students in doctoral programs
  • Students who have completed coursework and are working on proposals
  • PhD Candidates close to completion.
