[11] Fostering Pilina Online: A Journey in Place-Based Education & Social Justice (ft. Waynele Yu)

Waynele shares her unexpected journey from IT to education, how the STEMS² Master’s program deepened her understanding of social justice and sense of place, and how her research in this area led her to a surprising finding: that students can develop a deep sense of belonging even in fully online and hybrid learning environments. We also discuss practical strategies for building “place” in online spaces, equity in education, and her vision for a future based on aloha ʻāina, community abundance, and preparing the next generation of CTE teachers.
