The STEMS² program, in the COE Department of Curriculum Studies (EDCS), has established a long-term collaboration with the University of Tsukuba. In Spring 2019, the University of Hawai‘i approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the College of Education and the University of Tsukuba.
Professor Tara O’Neill, who designed and directs STEMS², piloted a partnership with Dr. Hirohisa Nagaio in 2017 through which STEMS² collaborated with the University of Tsukuba and its Laboratory School Network. Since then, two more student and teacher delegations from Tokyo and the surrounding areas have come to the COE to participate in STEMS² learning experiences.
The STEMS² ohana is excited to welcome the University of Tsukuba as the first international collaborator in the STEMS² network.
