Edney Gasmig Apulu is the 2020 Territorial Teacher of the Year. A social studies teacher at Tafuna High School in American Samoa, Apulu earned his MEd in the Curriculum Studies PACMED program. For the past eight years, he has taught at his alma mater where he is also the social studies department head, chairman of the National Honor Society, and advisor to the history club. He will be recognized by the American Samoa DOE in a ceremony later this month.
