How to Apply Instructions

Fall admission, even years only (i.e., Fall 2022, Fall 2024, Fall 2026):

  • Degree: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Program: BEd, Early Childhood & Early Childhood SPED
  • Select Program Options
    • Verify everything is correct:
      • Fall (year)
      • Licensure
      • Blended- Early Childhood & Early Childhood SPED
      • Statewide
    • Location: Choose the island you will be participating from
  • Complete Licensure Track Application Checklist
    • Apply to UH System
      • Check this box if you are already a UHM student or if you already transferred via the Ka‘ie‘ie program
      • Otherwise, apply using the steps provided below and then check the box
    • Cumulative GPA (2.75)
      • Check off that you understand. If your GPA is a little below, you can check the box with the understanding you are aware of the minimum requirement. If your GPA is below a 2.5 you would have needed to contact an OSAS advisor to discuss your options.
    • Completed 55 Credits
      • You should have verified these first with an OSAS advisor. Check the box if you have completed or are in the process of completing the requirements.
    • Completed UHM General Ed Core Requirements (may include associate degree from community college)
      • You should have verified these first with an OSAS advisor. Check the box if you have completed or are in the process of completing the requirements
    • Completed licensure track pre-requisite courses
      • Optional to take before or during program. Check the box that you understand.
    • 40 hours of documented group leadership experiences
      • Upload the form, a copy can be found under “Forms & Documents”
    • Interview with program
      • Follow instructions on the link given to schedule your interview. Download the copy, mark the date in your calendar, and then check the box.
    • Personal statement/essay
      • You can draft your response in Word or another word processor and then copy and paste into the box. Don’t check the box until it is complete, as you won’t be able to go back in and edit.
    • Three professional references
      • You need to include the name, email, phone number, and relationship for three references
    • Repeated courses, if any
      • If you have repeated courses, you can list them here. Otherwise, just check the box.
    • Prior Post-Secondary Program Enrollment
      • Please verify if you have ever been dismissed from a post-secondary program (bachelor’s degree, certificate, advanced degree, etc.)
    • Submit Makalei Application

If you are not currently a UH Mānoa student, you must also complete and submit the online transfer application to UH Mānoa ($70) and send official transcripts

        • You can list up to 4
      • Unofficial Transcripts
        • Not required, but if you have them go ahead and upload them.
    • Step 3: Certify everything is correct
      • Submit Application and pay $70 fee (non-refundable)

Official transcripts must be submitted directly from your college or university to UH Mānoa. You are required to submit transcripts from each post-secondary institution you have attended (excluding any University of Hawaiʻi System institution: UHM, UHH, UHWO, or any Hawaii Community College). Unofficial, faxed, hand-carried, or student copies of academic documents will not be accepted.
