Abstract

A complex-wide PK-20 Professional Development School (PDS) may serve as a model for next generation school-university partnerships. Such partnerships provide opportunities for 1) all stakeholders to better understand and articulate the breadth of the PK-12 student experience, 2) a variety of teacher candidate PK-12 experiences, 3) more collaboration across preparation programs, 4) PK-12 curricular/student/candidate/teacher collaboration, 5) collaborative research opportunities across the PK-12 context, 6) more flexible and sustainable participation, 7) more grow-your-own teacher hiring options, and 8) more PK-12 faculty/administrator professional development.
