Based on a Hawaiian game traditionally played during the season of Makahiki (mid-October through mid-February) this lesson demonstrates how force directly impacts the movement of an object. In this game, a stone shaped into a disk that fits in the palm of the hand is rolled or bowled down the field. Students are able to visually see the results on the field before they measure and record the data on a table and graph.
