The International Alliance for Invitational Education (IAIE)* 2023 Conference was held at the Campus Center Ballroom at UH Mānoa on November 30 and December 1, 2023.
Conference Highlights:

More than 40 in-person attendees, including 27 educators from Hong Kong and Mainland China (additional two dozen online participants mostly from Hong Kong)

10 general session presentations and 11 Invitational Education School presentations

Presentations ranged from “Utilizing Invitational Education Theory to Adapt Ethical Artificial Intelligence Policy” to “Building Strong Relationships to Create Inviting Schools” to “Creating a Culture of Invitation, Hope, and Engagement”

20 schools formally recognized for their exceptional Invitational Education practices

Pre-conference visits to Ke Kula Kaiapuni ‘O Ānuenue School where attendees observed the Wahena Makahiki ceremony, and to August Ahrens Elementary School where they observed classroom lessons

Post conference activities at the Ka Papa Lo’i ‘O Kānewai at UH Mānoa, sunrise at Sandy Beach, the Mānoa Falls Trail, the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, Sunday morning service at a local Chinese church, and sunset at Waikiki beach
