High school students across five local schools, including Campbell, Mililani, Pearl City, Waipahu, and Waiākea, participated in the pilot Hawaiʻi EdRising Conference on March 27, 2025. Students competed in three competitions: Childrenʻs Literature Pre–K, Ethical Dilemma, and Job Interview. Three winners from each category were selected and presented with certificates at their school.
Under the leadership of College of Education (COE) Recruitment Specialist Janet Kim, and as part of a Project Equal Access (PEA) grant, HI EdRising is a partnership among the COE, the Hawaiʻi Teacher Standards Board (HTSB), and the Hawaiʻi Departmetn of Education (HIDOE).
“While the inaugural conference was held virtually to accommodate neighbor island participants, the goal is to host an in-person competition next year,” Kim said. “This is an amazing partnership that provides funding for participating schools to implement EdRising curriculum and share insight and feedback as a collective.”
Educators Rising is a national network aimed at inspiring and supporting high school and college students interested in education-related careers. The organization provides resources, training, and hands-on teaching experiences to help prepare future educators.
