Janet Kim, Ph.D. is the College of Education Recruiter at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and a previous Hawaii DOE elementary special education teacher. Her research focus is recruiting and supporting underrepresented populations into teacher education programs. Her work includes distance and online recruitment methods and programs to meet the unique needs of rural and remote populations across the state of Hawaiʻi. She received her Master of Education in Educational Foundations and a PhD in Education with a specialization in Exceptionalities. Mrs. Kim was awarded the 2020 NAGAP Graduate Education Research Grant for her dissertation proposal, Understanding the Special Education Teacher Pipeline.
