I chose to become a special educational teacher because I had an incredible third grade teacher, Mrs. Carr who was the most patient, loving teacher ever. She made you feel so important. From third grade on, I truly felt like teaching was my calling. I really love working with children and children with special needs especially. I have five kids of my own and now that they are in school and getting older, now is the time for me to pursue my dream of becoming a teacher just like Mrs. Carr. Hopefully, I will make a difference and make all my students feel loved. I decided to become a licensed special education teacher because I always wanted to become a teacher.

The reason I chose special education is because when I was in the ninth grade I had the opportunity to be a peer-tutor to a girl with down syndrome. I loved it! I looked forward to that period everyday. I can still remember her name and her Birthday. Whenever I worked with my peer, I felt like I had found my passion in life. She brought me so much joy. I am now perusing my dream of becoming a special education teacher after it has been put on hold for too long.
