Why did you choose to become a teacher, in general?

I chose to become a teacher because I love working with children and their families. I had great teachers throughout my educational journey and I want to give back to my community by helping the keiki get through their educational journey with pride and confidence.

Why did you choose to become licensed in special education?

I chose to become licensed in Special Education because again, I love working with children and their families. In my community and family there are many students that are really special to me and they have disabilites, I want to help them enjoy the art of learning and being social. I want to help the parents of these children. I want to make sure that these families are getting the best of what life has to offer without shame or discomfort.

Why do you feel it is important to have diversity in the classroom?

I feel that diversity is important in the classroom because when these keiki leave our Island home and venture off into the real world they will be able to communicate effectively, be a community contributor and be helpful and kind to all they come into contact with. When there is diversity in the classroom the keiki can get used to all cultures and styles.
