Why did you choose to become a teacher, in general?

Through my personal experiences, especially during my time teaching at Ali’iolani Elementary School as a part time teacher, I discovered my passion working with students. I became deeply motivated to make a positive impact on their lives, just as my teachers and my mother, a special education teacher, have inspired and supported me throughout my own educational journey.

Why did you choose to become licensed in special education?

I chose to become licensed in special education because, through my work as an EA, I feel that I have gained valuable experience and insight to into the special education field. I find it incredibly rewarding to see students overcome challenges and thrive when given the right support. This hands-on experience has deepened my commitment to ensuring that all students, regardless of their needs, have the opportunity to succeed. It has also inspired me to pursue the specialized knowledge and skills necessary to make a meaningful impact within this field.
