Why did you choose to become a teacher, in general?

I chose to become a teacher because I truly feel that I have a deep passion for teaching and educating young minds in Hawaii. Hawaii is my home and I want to give back to a place that has given so much to me. I believe that my love for teaching and my personality plays a vital role in why I love teaching. I see that our young Hawaiian keiki are living in a world that needs ʻōiwi leaders, so I want to be a contributing member to that vision. Hawaiians will be strong leaders that can bring back the Hawaiian culture in its purest form. I also believe that teaching is our worldʻs foundation so I want to be apart of creating generations that contribute to our world in positive and uplifting ways.

Why did you choose to become licensed in special education?

I chose to become licensed in special education because I believe that students with disabilities deserve to get the same educational experience as other students. Growing up a lot of students with disabilities were separated from general ed students. I want to bring and encourage the idea of inclusive classrooms in my classroom. Our world needs to learn from a young age about inclusivity so that when children are adolescents there is no separation.
