I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. I was the child who loved going to school and would stay after to help the teacher clean up the classroom. I love the individualized and personalized nature of this profession and am lucky to have been given the chance to build my career in this field!

Dr. Janet Kim is an Assistant Specialist in the College of Education at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. She has served as the Special Education Recruitment specialist, MUSE mentor, and instructor for the Department of Special Education since 2013. Her research interests include: Recruitment & Retention, SPED Teacher Shortages, Workforce Diversity (Nontraditional Students, Rural/Remote Areas), and Professional Learning Communities (SPEDucator Project)
