Why did you choose to become a teacher, in general?

I chose to become a teacher because I love working with children. I feel the need to find a career that includes working with children. I want to be able to teach what I know and make an impact.

Why did you choose to become licensed in special education?

I have chosen to become a special education teacher because of my aunty Jelna Shelton who inspired me. Her inspiration showed me how much of a impact you could make for your students and family. As a special education teacher I want to help families and my students in reaching their goals to prepare them for the world out there. I want to see and be the reason why my students hit a milestone. I want to see smiles, positive expression, and I want to show compassion towards my students.

Why do you feel it is important to have diversity in the classroom?

It is important to have diversity in the classroom. Students, families, and staff in a school all come from different cultures. Diversity is beneficial for students because it will prepare them for the community outside of school. Socializing with different cultures will always be in a persons life. Students will learn about ones culture and how to be respectful of ones belief.
