Why did you choose to become a teacher, in general?
I chose to become a teacher after many years of working with youth in a counseling capacity. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about helping young people discover their potential and watching them grow. I wanted to make a more direct, sustained impact in their lives, and the classroom gives me that opportunity every day.
Why did you choose to become licensed in special education?
I chose special education because I saw firsthand how much we need dedicated people in this field. Every student deserves a supportive, inclusive environment where they can thrive, but there’s such a shortage of teachers willing to take on these roles. I wanted to be part of creating those spaces where diverse learners feel valued and can reach their potential. The challenges are real, but so is the impact we can make.
