Why did you choose to become a teacher, in general?
Children are our future and it is important to build a solid foundation for our children to thrive in our community.
Why did you choose to become licensed in special education?
I choose to become licensed in special education because I want to help the children who a lot of other teachers don’t want to help. I hear it all the time from people I meet working at a school, telling me “you are a brave soul to take on kids like that”. That breaks my heart to hear and also to see teachers who refuse to teach students with disabilities. I see them as students/children who need and deserve the same instruction just as much as any other student without disabilities. We just have to teach them in a different way and it really makes my day when I see them reaching their goals in the classroom.
