Why did you choose to become a teacher, in general?

I chose to become a teacher because I truly enjoy working with children. I enjoy learning and consider myself a lifetime learner. It’s exciting for me to help children in their learning and I hope to make a positive difference in their lives. I originally started as a substitute teacher and worked many long term positions before deciding that being a teacher was my next career path.

Why did you choose to become licensed in special education?

As a substitute teacher I was given many special education jobs as they were always available being that most people would would turn it down. After having experience with children with disabilities and special needs I feel that it is so much more rewarding teaching children with disabilities. I love seeing children make progress on their goals no matter how big or small and teaching them social skills to make friends. The parents also show so much appreciation and gratitude for working with their child.
