Why did you choose to become a teacher, in general?
I chose to become a teacher because I truly enjoy working with kids. I love seeing their creativity, and the way they see the world. Helping students learn and grow is something that brings me a lot of joy. It’s amazing to see the progress they make, both academically and personally. Working with kids allows me to make a positive impact every day, whether it’s teaching a new skill or encouraging them when they’re having a hard time. I want to be a teacher who makes learning fun and helps students believe in themselves.
Why did you choose to become licensed in special education?
I chose to become licensed in special education because I want to make a difference in the lives of students who struggle, just like I did. From 8th grade through 11th grade, I had an IEP and received support for both academic and behavioral challenges. I know what it feels like to be misunderstood or to fall behind, even when you’re trying your best. That experience helped me realize how important it is for students to have someone who believes in them and meets them where they are.
