Why did you choose to become a teacher, in general?
I chose to become a teacher because I want to make a difference for students and their families. I enjoy being around children and creating fun lesson plans that will engage and educate them.
Why did you choose to become licensed in special education?
I chose to become licensed in special education in particular because my older son has Autism and ADHD. We missed many opportunities and had many missteps because he had teachers/schools/districts that did not know how to best support his needs. I want to help others learn from our experiences and get on the right path sooner and with more success.
Why do you feel it is important to have diversity in the classroom?
It is important to have diversity in the classroom to expand our thinking and to develop compassion for those that might believe, think, and look differently than ourselves.
