Why did you choose to become a teacher, in general?
I chose to become licensed as a teacher because the need for our kids to be supported in order to succeed in life is far greater than what they receive at home and out in the community. Teachers play a vital role in shaping the children that are our future.
Why did you choose to become licensed in special education?
Children with special needs have a special place in my heart. We can work all year on a simple task that neurotypical people can complete without any hesitation or problems so when we finally succeed in the completion of this task, it is such a huge win for us teacher but more so for our little kiddos we work with.
Why do you feel it is important to have diversity in the classroom?
Diversity allows for continued growth/learning for both students and teachers. It also allows for generalization throughout the field which can be of extreme help because it allows for students and staff to experience the different spaces/situations in class.
