Social Media Ambassador Project

Purpose

  • To recognize, engage, and share about our high-quality programs from the student perspective
  • To create content that is meaningful to various target audiences
  • To support enrollment outcomes by engaging students from inquiry through graduation
  • To represent and highlight the diversity of our student population and target underrepresented groups

This project looks to support and recognize our high-caliber students and provide financial support in return for their knowledge, skills, and experiences in the program & in using social media.

Ambassador Benefits

Selected social media ambassadors would receive:

  • A total of $1000 for the designated school year
    • Funding will be provided in 2 installments of $500 ($500 upon acceptance, and $500 upon completion)
  • COE/UH swag bag and/or attire
  • Possible travel funding to attend statewide recruitment events, if applicable
  • Professional development, leadership, and networking opportunities
  • Opportunity to share feedback and insight to improve COE experiences for all students

2024-2025 SMAP Ambassadors

Ambassador Requirements

Chosen ambassadors are expected to complete the following:

  • Create an ambassador profile to be featured on our College of Education Social Media Ambassador website
  • Attend at least 1-2 recruitment events throughout the year to help promote, share, and engage with prospective students (college-wide or program-specific), that may be held during the daytime, evening, or on weekends
  • Create at least 10 pieces of social media content (videos/stories/reels/podcasts) to share on COE social media(@uhmanoacoe) related to your COE program (e.g., Day in the Life, special event, collaboration, working w/students or peers, research).
  • Develop one student-selected media blog on a COE-focused subject
  • Create a “how-to” mini-lesson on a social media-based skill
  • Attend initial training and quarterly ambassador virtual meetings to discuss program experiences & receive leadership and professional development opportunities

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be currently enrolled in an online, hybrid, or campus-based COE program (bachelor, master, doctoral, or certificate)
  • Must be living in the state of Hawai’i (i.e., Hawai‘i – Big Island, Kaua‘i, Lānai, Maui, Moloka‘i, O‘ahu)
  • Must be in good standing (e.g., coursework, fieldwork, professional dispositions)
  • Must receive recommendation/support from their program advisor/coordinator to serve as the face/voice of their respective program
  • Must have experience using one or more social media platforms
  • Priority given to applicants who demonstrate the following traits: creative, highly motivated, energetic, dependable, knowledgable, is an effective communicator, and displays leadership potential
