Why did you choose to pursue to pursue the PhD, Learning Design & Technology program?
I chose to pursue Learning Design and Technology because the program perfectly incorporates two pathways that I am passionate about, education and technology!
Why did you want to be a Social Media Ambassador for your program?
I would like to be a Social Media Ambassador for my program so that I can share the great things happening in the College of Education. The College of Education has provided me with so many opportunities and introduced me to some of the most influential people that have shaped my career path, so I would love to be able to give back. My dissertation chair encouraged me to develop my leadership skills, so in my last year at UH, I am excited to learn more about social media communication and to represent the LTEC program.
Anything else you’d like to share?
I am working full-time as a kumu at Kamehameha Schools and am also in the process of writing my dissertation. I am part of the Hilinehu Educational Leadership Advancement (HELA) program at UH. I presented my research in 2021 at The Teaching Colleges and Community Worldwide Online Conference (TCC) and recently presented at the International Conference for Media in Education (ICoME) at Meiji University in Tokyo, Japan. Outside of UH, I am a member of the Japanese Women’s Society Foundation, the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai’i’s Ho’ohana Program, the Go For Broke National Education Center’s Torchbearer Program, and the Lambda Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa. I also enjoy volunteering for the Cherry Blossom Festival!
