What is your philosophy of teaching?
My teaching philosophy has been highly influenced by my personal experience and professional coursework. This combination of experience and love for continuous learning and development, has led to transformational change. My instructional practices include approaches that are student centered, dialogic, reflective and inclusive. In this regard, I hope to create a sense of community with a spirit of genuine mentorship for not only academic growth but character as well.
What types of candidates do you hope/recommend to pursue the BEd, Early Childhood & Early Childhood Special Education program?
I hope to collaborate and learn from preservice educators that have a desire to make a difference, to grow in knowledge and skill. Ultimately to assist future advocates for all learners in their classrooms.
What are your research interests?
Young multilingual learners with disabilities, early literacy, culturally responsive instruction, multicultural education and critical pedagogy.
What do you like to do outside of education?
I enjoy cooking, reading, art and spending time in nature with my family.
