Mālama Mōkapu, Mālama ʻĀina

This unit was designed to explore Hawaiianʻs complex land division systems that increased productivity and protected natural resources. Students will learn why Hawaiian practices were sustainable and how to apply them now. They will delve into Mālama ʻĀina and its importance. Students also learn the rich natural resources found throughout the Mōkapu peninsula to increase students’ sense of place, teaching them to apply this knowledge and instill them a sense of responsibility of all places.
This curriculum is still under review by faculty. Units identified as Under Review have been submitted by educators. While they are available to view now, they are currently being reviewed by our curriculum committee for addition to this site.
