How I Practice STEMS²
As a STEMS² Masters student and SPED educator, I integrate place-based learning through my project to thoughtfully restore my ‘ohanas nine-acre land in the ‘Āhuimanu Taro Complex. This initiative aims to create a “living classroom” rooted in traditional Hawaiian agricultural practices and Indigenous knowledge, fostering deep connections between students, their community, and the ‘āina. My practice aims to empower learners with hands-on experiences, cultivating kuleana (responsibility) and advocating for sustainable solutions to real-world challenges like food security and environmental health.
