Description

The participants will learn how a planning process was used to design a 5th grade culturally-responsive and problem-based curriculum unit. A principled planning process was used to design a culturally-responsive, problem-based, NGSS-aligned unit that addresses science standards in Earth and Space Science and Physical Science. The presenter will share the process and resulting unit design. We will share how the phenomenon of Lāhainā Noon was used to weave a storyline in which students can develop explanations for the phenomenon and understandings of celestial motion and patterns.
