ʻIke ʻAi Food Literacy Toolkit

E komo mai kākou to the ʻIke ʻAi Food Literacy Toolkit, an educational food literacy resource hub for educators who support thriving local food systems for their communities, and pathways for careers in food and agriculture for their students.

ʻIke ʻAi refers to a holistic, relational knowledge of the plants, animals on land and sea, fungi, and algae we humans consume to grow and thrive.

This project was developed out of a partnership between UH West Oʻahu Community Food Systems Program, Center for Getting Things Started, and the STEMS² master’s program through the College of Education at UH Mānoa. A special mahalo to USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture, Jess Sobocinski, Dr. Koh Ming Wei, Dr. Albie Miles, and to our team of reviewers: Alana Kaopuiki-Pellegrino, Amanda Rieux, Jameil Saez, Jon Kissida, Maile Garrett, and Ting Ortiz.

Please review the toolkit guide to learn more about how to use this toolkit in your classrooms, community projects, and other educational programs!
