Developing AI Literacy in Computer Science Education: Challenges, Strategies, and Prospects
Poster Session
The research presents a systematic review of Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy in Computer Science (CS) education. With AI’s growing influence, it is crucial to integrate AI literacy into educational curricula. The study identifies key approaches, tools, and challenges related to teaching AI at various educational levels, from K-12 to university. The review was conducted in two phases: a meta-review of 18 systematic reviews on AI literacy and a comprehensive systematic review of primary research. The findings reveal gaps in age-appropriate AI resources, a lack of integration of AI ethics, and insufficient teacher preparation. Project-based and experiential learning methods are found to be effective in teaching AI concepts. However, challenges such as the scarcity of standardized assessment frameworks and resources for young learners persist. The research emphasizes the need for a holistic, interdisciplinary approach to AI education that includes ethical considerations and better tools for educators.
