Healthy Boundaries, Healthy Classroom: Autoethnography Exploring One Teachers’ Classroom Management and Student Teacher Relationship Boundaries
Poster Session
Often, teachers find navigating classroom management and student-teacher relationships (STRs) difficult. I am a new secondary teacher close in age to her students. Given my newness and age proximity to students, to maintain a healthy classroom, I find it paramount to have defined classroom management and STR boundaries. This research seeks to help other teachers looking to navigate their own classroom management and STR boundaries. My research question is “What boundaries do I need more clearly defined to make my classroom management and student-teacher relationships as healthy and appropriate as possible?” To determine a list of boundaries, I will participate in autoethnography through event recording and thematic analysis. I will share preliminary findings in hopes of providing insight to other educators navigating STR boundaries.
