Presentation Session I

This presentation summarizes the feedback received from users of a game developed for Indonesian Foreign Language Users (Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing, BIPA) called “Latihan Imbuhan Bahasa Indonesia” (practice Indonesian affixes), or LIBI for short. The gamified learning intervention was digitized from earlier iterations of this learning tool in order to reach the BIPA community throughout the United States. Through interaction and grammar in context this tool aims to support BIPA learners through a challenging aspect in the acquisition of Indonesian as a Foreign Language: the affixation process. A usability study phase and a learning study phase were completed in the spring of 2026 to better inform the design team of what aspects work and which need further attention. Their feedback has been summarized for purposes of this presentation, and for further development of the LIBI learning game.
