Description

This presentation is based off of an abstract submitted to ACSM 2026. We examined phase angle changes, specifically raw BIA metrics, in 66 patients that completed 12-weeks of aerobic and resistance training. Upon examination, we discovered that significant segmental changes in reactance (Xc) accompanied by insignificant changes in trunk suggest that changes in whole body phase angle are associated with lower-body muscle function. Additionally, a significant change in whole body resistance accompanied by an insignificant change in body fat suggests that the segmental Xc and WB phase angle changes are due to improved muscle function as a result of training.
