Kawika Gonzales was raised on the island of Moloka’i where he currently resides. Kawika is a 5th grade general education teacher and have been teaching for the past 21 years at Kaunakakai Elementary school. Through his years of teaching, Kawika has been able to learn a lot about technology, STEM, and computer science. Kawika has incorporated video editing, robotics, rockets, computer-aided design, computer programming, 3D printing, and virtual/augmented reality into his classroom instruction. As well as being a general education teacher, Kawika is also the STEM coordinator, Math Chairperson, and a part of the leadership team at our school. Kawika recently graduated with a Master’s degree in Learning Design and Technology at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa.
