These are education-related funding opportunities open to all education majors with varying eligibility requirements. These opportunities are separate from funding available through COE scholarships & stipends. NOTE: KRS is an education major and KRS students may be eligible for these opportunities.
The Dr. Niki Libarios #BeKindToAStudent Scholarship assists UHM COE undergraduate and graduate students who are committed to serving the Filipino community.
Requirements:
- Google Form, including short answers
- Two letters of recommendation, one from a member of an academic institution, another from a member of a community organization
- Some degree of financial need, not necessarily determined by federal guidelines
- Show academic merit as determined by the selection committee
- UHM-COE Enrollment
- Commitment to Filipinos
- Preference given to Hawai’i HS graduates and Hawai’i CC transfers
$500-$1,000 for undergraduates. Amount for graduate students will vary.
Spring deadline varies by year
The purpose of this fund is to assist students enrolled in either the field of agriculture or education at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. The prospective recipient should have a major of Agriculture or Education. To the extent permitted by law, in cases where applicants are otherwise equally qualified, preference may be given to students of Filipino ancestry.

The Hawaiʻi State Organization of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International is pleased to announce its 2024 Selective Recruitment Grant Program which is open to any college student pursuing a career in education.
Two Lucille Hodgins Selective Recruitment Grants of $1,000 per grant will be awarded for the 2024-2025 academic year. The criteria for selection include:
- Academic achievement
- Leadership qualities
- Commitment to education as a profession
- Financial need
- Potential for success
- Spring 2024 and Fall 2024 enrollment in an accredited college or university (preference will be given to Hawaiʻi residents attending Hawaiʻi institutions)
- Preference given to legal Hawaiʻi residents and military personnel stationed in Hawaiʻi
- Past recipients are not eligible
The application, official transcript(s), and two (2) letters of recommendation must be submitted on or before March 1, 2024. Applications (including recommendation letters and transcripts) sent via U.S. mail must be postmarked on or before March 1, 2024 and received by March 7, 2024.

Eligibility Criteria
- A primary member of HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union with their own account in good standing and length of time as a member.
- Employed by the Hawai‘i Department of Education as a professional or paraprofessional educator.(Emergency hires & substitutes are not eligible).
NOTE: The amount of funds awarded per recipient will vary based on the number of eligible applicants and funds available. Our goal is to ensure all eligible recipients receive some amount of funds.
