Why did you choose to become a teacher, in general?
I remember my 2nd-grade teacher and how she made learning so much fun. I want to do the same for future children. I want to be a fun teacher for kids. Make teaching fun for kids and for them to enjoy school. I want to be able to give them a good support system in a school setting. I want to see kids happy and feel safe in a classroom and create memories that will last a life time.
Why did you choose to become licensed in special education?
It is so important to nurture those most vulnerable and to uplift and empower them. I never had a class with a special education student, and I always thought it was unfair for them not to be in a normal setting. They do struggle in life with the disabilities that they have. I wanted to be a general education teacher, and this course was my way to do it, but as I took classes, I enjoyed it because I learned about different disabilities and how I can help them in school. To be able to guide them in school, cheer them on from the sidelines as watch them grow through the school year.
Why do you feel it is important to have diversity in the classroom?
We are all human. It is important to teach children inclusion, respect and, love.
